Currently, he is VICE PRESIDENT MANUFACTURING EUROPE. He has been holding that position for the last 12 years, since he started in October 1995.
During his career, he mainly directed, managed & coordinated 19 manufacturing operations in 11 European countries, to achieve Baxter’s global objectives in an efficient & effective manner. The sectors that Max now masters are aseptic & sterile filling (clean room & isolator), sterilization (steam, chemical, dry heat, radiation), lyophilization, chemical synthesis, extrusion, molding, sealing, automated assemblies, machine & equipment building for pharma industry.
Max set up the manufacturing infrastructure network to maximize the key performance indicators (after Tax Profit, replenishment & manufacturing costs, quality, service, know how & skill ad equation). He has extensively used the plant location optimization modelling techniques (linear programming, dynamic systems simulation).
He also developed and implemented quantitative techniques to balance demand, service level,
lead-time & inventory objectives (continuous replenishment system).
He worked on the maximization of throughput of production lines, departments, plants and their divisions (capacity, utilization, cycle time, lot sizing, inventory levels). He has extensively used Lean, Theory of Constraints & Factory Physics in depth knowledge of applied statistics (Design of experiments, 6 sigma, statistical process control) and Queuing theory; all related to the best economical value for the company.
Then, he developed and implemented a Management Cockpit Business Intelligence System for the Total European Operations, as well as a Multiple Project Management Approach to maximize lead-time, resource utilization and profitability.
Additionally, he is the CEO of Baxter Services Europe S.A.; and Director on Boards of 7 other European Baxter companies.
In 2002, he became MANAGING DIRECTOR BAXTER BENELUX. During almost 3 years, he directed & managed the Benelux Marketing & Sales organization. He was responsible for the set up of the European business (R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales) of MEDIVAC (a vacuum body fluid removal medical device system for use in Operating rooms). He prepared & implemented the business plan of a CE marked medical device.
Before being VP Manufacturing Europe, he was GENERAL MANAGER BAXTER LESSINES from August 1991 to October 1995. He had to direct & manage a Pharma plant of 1500 employees. He had a day-to-day full Operations responsibility.
Before that, he was DIRECTOR MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING EUROPE during 4 years. He was responsible for European product & process engineering. He developed, engineered, installed, validated & ran a fully automated blood pack collection manufacturing line, with UNIQUE ozonization packaging system.
From November 1986 to November 1988, he was DIRECTOR QUALITY & REGULATORY AFFAIRS EUROPE. He had to approve products & processes with the European Regulatory Authorities (Ministries of Health) from a product market authorization registration but also from an operations Quality & GMP perspective.
From January 1976 to November 1986, he was MANAGER QUALITY CONTROL & ASSURANCE. He mostly applied statistics, sampling plans, IQ/OQ/PQ validations, running chemical, microbiological laboratories.
Before his Baxter career, he worked in retail pharmacies, military hospital pharmacy, and clinical biology labs. He began as University assistant Toxicology Department. He wrote a non-defended PhD thesis “Endotoxin LPS active site of Limuline lectin”.

He has a personal consulting business company; he is President of “Valu€ $tream bvba”.
He likes road & mountain biking, sea swimming & alpine ski.
